Our Pei

Sadie

Sharpei - Sadie

Hi, I'm Sadie!   I am a very sweet chocolate female Shar-Pei with a beautiful coat.   I am full of love with eyes that look deeply into yours.

Update 2/22/2011:  I had some medical problems for a while, but my foster Mom says that I am doing great and look the best ever!!!!  My weight is up from 27 to 40 pounds!   There are only a few dents at my ribs and my hips are full.   I get fed twice a day and get my enzyme whenever I eat. Foster Mommy knows when my tummy is bothering me and gives me Pepto Bismol.

I am such a sweetheart and really hope to find a special “furever” home that will give me the care that I need.  I promise to pay you back with lots of Pei loving!

Sadie is being fostered in North Carolina.

Teddy Bear

Chinese Shar-Pei - Teddy Bear

Hi, I'm Teddy Bear, and I got my awesome name because I am plush and soft just like a teddy bear!   My foster mom says that I am "velvety" soft!  I am a big, sweet loveable guy who enjoys hugs and rubs.   I am very mellow and my foster mom says that I am an easy dog to have in the house.   I am experiencing lots of new things at my foster home...like a bed - I was not quite sure what to do with a bed at first, but now I have it figured out - comfy!  Playing with toys was new to me too, but these are great fun; and as you can see from my photos, I love playing with toys!  I like the other dogs here and am having a good time hanging out and playing with them.  I am being introduced to cats slowly; and so far, I think I am being pretty good.  Let's see, what else is new...oh...the doggie door...I am getting used to that contraption.  I used to just go out, but have figured out that I can come in too - cool! I enjoy being outside and can often be found passed out in the grass or on the patio.

If you are interested in a sweet, loveable (and don‘t forget soft like a teddy bear) guy, please fill out an application and ask for Teddy Bear!

Update 4/27/2010:  Teddy Bear has been diagnosed with mast cell tumors.   The vet‘s recommendation is to surgically remove them and follow up with treatment.

Teddy Bear is as spry as ever and has no idea anything is going on.  His foster mom has switched him to a raw, dehydrated, organic pet food as step one toward this fight.  Dogs with mast cell tumors cannot have grains/carbs.

We had a fundraiser for Teddy and Cezar (now Beau).  Please visit Teddy Bear and Cezar's donation page for more details and to see their Guardian Angels.

Update 5/21/2010:   Teddy Bear‘s surgery went well.   Teddy Bear was a hit with the veterinary staff.  Everyone commented on what a great dog he is and how sweet he was!  Teddy is wearing a tough guy t-shirt to protect his incision from any scratching.   When he was picked up, he was up and on his feet behaving as if nothing happened.  His pathology results should be back in 3-5 days.   We‘re praying this is a stage I grade cancer.

Update 5/29/2010:   Great news!  We received Teddy Bear‘s Pathology report.  The test confirmed Mast Cells, Grade II.  Clear margins were obtained through surgery, and there is no evidence of vascular or lymphatic invasion.

The histologic grade is based on a study published in Veterinary Pathology Vol. 21 pp.469-474, 1984 “Canine Cutaneous Mast Cell Tumor: Morphological Grading and Survival Time in 83 Dogs”. Forty-Seven percent of dogs with Grade II mast cell tumor survived longer than 1500 days.  A different study said that the median survival time for dogs with Grade II mast cell tumors having a mitotic index of less than or equal to 5 (the vet said Teddy Bear had 0) was 70 months.

Because Teddy Bear had two tumors when he was diagnosed and one disappeared, there is a chance that another tumor or tumors could reappear.  Chemotherapy is not a great treatment for mast cell tumors as they don‘t respond well.

Teddy Bear‘s vet did say if there is a tumor to get, apparently this one would be a good one to have as it‘s not dividing or invading any major areas.   We think this is as close to a clean bill of health as we‘re going to get.

Update 6/30/2010:   A lump on Teddy Bear‘s back has returned.  This lump was originally aspirated at the same time as the lump that was removed, but it went into hiding and could not be found during his first surgery.

Update 10/14/2010:   Teddy Bear‘s second lump has been playing “hide-and-seek” since June.   The lump is currently in hiding, so we are waiting to see what happens.   We are told that the “hide-and-seek” is consistent with mast cell tumors.

Teddy Bear is happy and well adjusted in his foster home.  He now has a two year old female pit bull living with him who tries to coax him into playing.  He tries, but he prefers lying under his sleeping bush in the yard.  He continues to be the sweetest dog ever.  He rarely barks.  He likes to come up and lick his foster mom‘s chin when she gives him rubs and hugs.  His foster mom says “He really is the best dog.”

Teddy Bear is being fostered in Virginia.

Rocky

Adoption Pending

Chinese Shar-Pei Puppy - Rocky

Hi, I‘m Rocky!  I‘m a 10-11 month old flowered Shar-Pei mix.  I am very friendly, already housebroken and crate trained.  I am a very active pup and do well with other dogs.  I am having a good time with the other Pei here.   I would do well in a home with another dog that I can play with and chase around.   I have come a long way with my manners.  My foster family and Pei brothers have spent a lot of time showing me how to be polite.  I am maturing and turning into a perfect canine citizen!  I will actually seek out affection now and will try to get in your lap if you let me.  I love a good Nylabone too and will spend lots of time rolling around on the floor chewing on one.

Update 7/18/2011: I have been in my foster home for about a month now, and I am doing great. They are teaching me LOTS of new things here because I am so smart.  The big guy has already taught me how to sit and shake.  When I do what he asks, he gives me treats.  Yum Yum!  My leash manners have improved as well and after a few minutes, I am a really good walker.  My mommy tells me when to “wait” for the cars before we cross the street.  I LOVE going for my walks now, and I look forward to them every day.  Do you need a walking partner?

As much as I love it here, I still want a home of my own, so please get your applications in and ask for me, Rocket dog!  (That‘s what my mom calls me.)

P.S.  I wrote an article for the Rescue's August Newsletter that has some more pictures and an update on my vacation adventure!

Update 12/4/2011:  I‘m still here in rescue and am hoping that I will find a “furever” home for the holidays.  I wrote a letter telling Santa Paws that this is what I wished for.   I hope my dreams come true.

Kahlua

Adoption Pending

Chinese Shar-Pei - Kahlua

Hi Everyone!  I‘m Kahlua, a lovable two year old Pei currently located in Springfield, VA.   I love to go on walks/jogs outside and make new friends.  I‘m very good on the leash except when I see squirrels.   They tend to get me super excited, and I tend to pull on the leash if I do see one. Other than that, I‘m very good with people and small children.

I‘m housebroken and crate trained.  I do not live with any other dogs, but I used to in the past.  I stay crated during the day but am a very good boy.  I only really bark if I‘m outside and ready to come in.  I like to play fetch and love to have my toys near me at all times.  My favorites are rawhide bones, where I can just chew chew away.   I also like to learn new tricks as long as treats are involved!  I learned how to sit, lay down, and shake hands.

I do have seasonal allergies, where I tend to have some inflammation and flare ups on my belly during the spring and fall especially when it‘s time to shed my coat; but as long as I get my meds from my veterinarian, it clears up with no problems.

I am already neutered and am ready to go to my “furever” home.  Do I sound like the guy for you?

Misha

Chinese Shar-Pei - Misha

Hi, my name is Misha!  I am a beautiful, female horsecoat Shar-Pei...sweet and friendly too!   I‘ll give you a big kiss if you let me!  I am already housebroken, spayed and up-to-date on my vaccinations. I really enjoy riding in the car, as you can see from my road trip photo.  I was a really good girl on my road trip from Florida to Virginia.  I went for a sleep over along the way and was perfectly well-behaved in the house too.

I love to play!  I am in a foster home with another Pei, Tucker, and we get along well and enjoy playing together.   Foster Mom takes us to the dog park, and I really like that.  I do well with dogs my own size but my play is a little too rough for the smaller dogs.  I would love to find a home with another playful dog about my size to hang out with.

I am looking for a “furever” home to call my own, so please fill out an application if you are interested in a cute girl like me.

Mokie

Who Would Throw Away a Dog?...

Hi, I‘m Mokie.  I haven‘t had a very good life.  I suffer from manage and haven‘t been given very much to eat, so I have very little fur and my skin hangs from my bones.  Just when I thought things couldn t get any worse, to my great horror and surprise, I was placed in a heavy duty garbage bag which was tied shut; and I was thrown out with the trash in NYC.   Despite my lifetime of neglect and weak condition, I found the strength to begin to chew a hole in the bag.  A passerby saw the bag move and called the animal control officers who came to my temporary aid.  I was taken to a shelter where they gave me some food and a cage to sleep in.  Because of my horrible physical condition and the terrible over crowding at the shelter, I was scheduled to be euthanized on Saturday when my mandatory five day stray hold was over.  After seeing what a loving girl I am, the kind shelter workers called the people at Shar-Pei Rescue and pleaded my case.  The vet checked my skin and diagnosed my mange as demodex, which meant I was not contagious and was cleared to go to a foster home where I am being fed and medicated and loved.

I am sweet and gentle, and I greet everyone I see with a wagging tail and soft eyes.  I am friendly to dogs of all shapes and sizes, and I don‘t mind cats at all.  The rescue people think I am two years old.

P.S.  I know enough to do my business outside, and I am fine sleeping in a crate...although I have discovered that couches are REALLY comfortable.  Please see the note from my Foster Mom below.

Note from my Foster Mom:

She had a great first night.  She ran over to Chris wagging her tail as soon as he got home, and we were all outside in the back yard for a few hours then came in to eat.  She snoozed on the floor at my feet, with Sammy up on the couch above her around 8:30, then woke up for a bit and went in the crate at 10.  She didn‘t whine or make a peep when she went in the crate.  She was thinking about playing but is still hesitant with Sammy.  She chewed on some chewies and played with a rope toy, bouncing around a little...which was great to see.  My favorite part is that she pooped and peed outside!!  I can‘t wait to see her come out of her shell even more.

She was like a rooster at 7am, barking to let us know it was time to feed her.  I guess that is when the shelter workers get to them.  Very happy, bouncy dog so far today :)

Overall, so far, so good!

I will keep you updated on her.  Thank you for bringing her to us!

Update 10/23/2011:  I have some great news!  I am being adopted by my foster family - YEAH!!!!

Zoey

Adoption Pending

Chinese Shar-Pei - Zoey

Hi, I‘m Zoey!  I'm a four year old apricot Shar-Pei.  I'm a very sweet girl and do well with children and other dogs.  Life has been kind of rough for me lately.  I was in a situation where I was really neglected for quite a while.  Some nice people helped me out and took me into their home with the hope of finding me a new permanent home.  One of the dogs there didn‘t like me, and I ended up getting beat up badly.  I needed five hours of surgery and had many sutures.  It hurt so bad.  I was a good girl and let my caregivers tend to my wounds.   My caregivers contacted the Rescue to see if they could help me out.  I did fine with the other dogs in the house, but they were afraid I would get beat up again.  I was too!  So here I am at the Rescue.  I am hopeful that things will get better from here, but I hear that I need to have entropion surgery - oh no, not surgery again!

Update 10/23/2011:  Well, it‘s true, I do need entropion surgery.  I‘m kind of bummed about that, but everything else is great.  I have a really nice Pei-pal, Duncan; and we like each other a lot.  I love my foster family and they are planning on adopting me!  Yippee!

Medical Hold

Chinese Shar-Pei - Bam

Hi, I‘m Bam!  I'm a very cute 13 month old male Shar-Pei.  Gumbo and I were turned in to an Alabama shelter by a breeder.

Update 10/5/2011:  I was neutered and had entropion surgery today.

Update 10/18/2011:  We are now in our foster home in Virginia.   Our foster mom says that we are sweet little angels.  Foster Mom says it will be a while before we are ready for adoption.  You see we spent our lives up to now confined to a kennel.  We are absolutely terrified of everything. Gumbo is a little braver than me...I am just afraid of this new world.  I am on medical hold for now. I need some time to learn to trust and may need another surgery.   Please check back to see how I am progressing.

Hi, my name is Molly.  I am a sweet one year old girl who loves to snuggle and give kisses.  My foster parents have two children, and I just love them.  They also have some other dogs here, and I think they are pretty neat as well.   The little girl here loves to take me for walks every day, and I can really use the exercise.  She says that I walk really well on a leash.  They also say that I am a pretty easy going dog, and I hope someday to have a “fur-ever” home.

Chinese Shar-Pei - Sugar and Charlotte

Sugar and Charlotte are currently at Associated Humane Society, Popcorn Park, in New Jersey. These girls are best friends and need to be adopted together.  Sugar is a sweet mini Shar-Pei and has some problems with her feet.   Charlotte is motherly and looks out for Sugar.   They are well-behaved, polite girls.  These girls have suffered a bit of neglect in their lifetime but are happy and thriving now!  Anybody out there with a soft spot for seniors who can offer these girls a warm and comfortable place to live, either foster or permanent?

Jasmine

Chinese Shar-Pei - Jasmine

Jasmine is currently at Associated Humane Society, Popcorn Park, in New Jersey.  She is a two year old mini Shar-Pei.   Jasmine is being treated with prednisone for masticatory myositis. Masticatory myositis is an inflammatory disorder that involves the muscles of mastication (chewing). The vet believes she will get better, but it will take 3-4 weeks before we should see improvement in her ability to open her jaws.   She is a sweet dog who wants to play with other dogs, but of course can‘t at this time.

Jasmine is hoping for a loving, caring foster home who will take care of her special needs.

Chinese Shar-Pei - Sherry

Sherry is currently at Associated Humane Society in New Jersey.  She is a sweet, pretty little two year old Shar-Pei; but she was so thin you could hardly tell she was a Shar-Pei.  She is calm and a bit frightened of the big shelter and all the new people; but after spending a little time with her, she warmed up.  She is very easy to walk and takes treats gently.   Her food test was great, here favorite treat is hot dogs. Once she comes out of her shell and finds a friend and some love, she‘ll blossom.

Romeo

Male Chinese Shar-Pei - Romeo

Hi, I'm Romeo!  I am a sweet male Shar-Pei who just arrived from a Georgia shelter and am just settling in at my foster home in North Carolina.  I am doing great with the other dogs here.   Foster mom says I am very thin, but the food here is GOOD so I'll be putting on some weight soon.  I am heartworm positive, so the rescue will need to work with the vet on a plan for treatment.

Update 12/4/2011:  Well things are really looking up for me here in NC.  I have put on some weight and am looking pretty good for a 7 yr old.  I now weigh in at 48 pounds of pure sweetness.  I am learning a lot from the dogs I live with.  I didn‘t really know a lot about playing with humans or dogs, but I am learning.   I must be kind of funny when I play.  I bark a little and do this growling thing, and it makes my foster mom laugh.   As you know, I am HW positive and they have discovered that I have some chronic respiratory problems, kind of like COPD.   That scared me because I thought no one would want me, but I have been told that all these things can be controlled.  I will need a lot of TLC, love, lots of kisses and ear rubs.  So if you are the “motherly type” and would like to help me get better, please fill out an application and maybe I could be sitting under your Christmas tree this year.

Update 12/12/2011:  Guess what?  I have an adoption pending.  Check out my nice new bed - nice and comfy!

Hi, my name is Cinnamon!  I have been very neglected and ended up in a shelter in Delaware.  I am very skinny and my coat is not in good condition, but I know I am in good hands now and will have the food and care I need to be my beautiful self again soon.

I am a very sweet, chocolate Shar-Pei.  I am staying with three other Pei and haven‘t paid much attention to them.   After living on the streets, I am really enjoying the nice dog beds here.  I am housetrained, quiet and ride well in the car.

Minnie

Female Chinese Shar-Pei - Minnie

My name is Minnie, and I sure am glad to be getting a new start.  I am a very small, female Pei, who‘s had quite a hard life; but I know things are going to get better THIS time. My son, Marcus, and I were neglected and then abandoned.  Someone called animal control about us, and our owner was going to be charged with animal cruelty if they didn‘t surrender us. So they took us away.  We thought OH BOY, but our excitement was short lived.  They took us to this horrible place that was cold and noisy, and after only one day we were put on the “E” list.  I hear that is not a good thing. But some great ladies from NY, NJ, VA and NC started sending emails, and they were able to save us.

Update 11/28/2011:  I am so happy!  I am settling in at my foster home and already am known as a “sweetheart”!   Yep, that‘s me, and I am so excited to have people who appreciate my sweetness.   Foster Mom gave me a bath, and now I look so much better.  I am getting along with the kids and the nice Pei here, Kobe.  I‘m housebroken and am enjoying being in the house.  I have made myself at home here and have discovered the pleasure of lounging on a chair!

Update 12/2/2011:   My skin is looking much better already!  Foster mom says I‘m on the mend.  I‘m going to the vet tomorrow so please check back to hear how I do.

Update 12/5/2011:  I‘m so sad today.  Some bad news from the vet...I am heartworm positive too.

Update 12/13/2011:   I had my chest X-ray today and it showed “moderate heartworms”.  I‘m not sure what that means, but my vet feels ok about doing the surgery to remove this nasty tumor on my leg - YEAH, can‘t wait to get rid of that nasty thing. I will be spayed too.  I'll be going in for surgery on Thursday and will be staying overnight.  I‘m a little scared so please keep me in your thoughts.

Update 12/17/2011:  Hi everyone, I wanted to let you know that I am doing great!  Boy, does it feel good to have that crazy thing off my leg.  Check out the picture of how nice my leg looks already. The vet sent my tumor off to be tested, and we are really hoping it is benign.  We should know in a week.

Update 12/27/2011:   Minnie got her stitches out today and did very well!  We also got her biopsy results- benign!!!!!!  We are doing the Hap-Pei dance!

Update 1/20/2012:  I have started my heartworm treatment and hear that this will take until July.  So far, all is good with that.   One thing that I wanted to mention for all of you who are interested in adopting me is that I need a home where either a person is home with me most of the time or where I have a canine companion.  I‘m not real keen on being left by myself.

Sable

Female Chinese Shar-Pei - Sable

Hi, I‘m Sable, a very sweet female Shar-Pei.  I was rescued from doggie jail in Gaston, NC.   I rode well in the car and walked nicely on the leash on my way to my foster home.   I've settled in on the nice orthopedic bed here and am quite comfortable.

Update 12/28/2011:  Christmas was good here.  I got a Christmas bath and a new toy, but I am still sad.  You see I was with my old family for a long time, but this year they were blessed with a new baby.  It was a happy time but then the baby got very sick and there were lots of medical bills and hard times.  One of us had to go.  So I volunteered and that is how I ended up at the high kill shelter. I knew I was a goner because of my age but then I heard someone say a rescue group wanted me. THANK YOU.  I really like my foster mom and dad and the 3 dogs that live here are nice too.  I am learning to live with other dogs, and Maggie-Pei is my favorite.  I am an AKC dog (you know that means Adorable, Kissable, Canine), and I have lots of squeezable wrinkles.   I am hoping that there is someone out there with a soft spot for a well-behaved, sweet, mature girl who just wants someone to love and to be loved.  IS IT YOU ???

Suzee

Chinese Shar-Pei - Suzee

Hi, my name is Suzee, and I am cute as a button.  I am a young girl found by animal control with deep wounds under my arms, but I have healed nicely.   The docs think that my harness was once embedded in my skin.   I have an old injury to my rear leg that has healed, but I still don‘t want to walk on it all the time.  However, that does not stop me from playing with the dogs here in my foster home.  I have only been in my crate a couple of times and it‘s not my favorite place, but my foster mom is helping me with this.  I am mostly housebroken, so my new home will have to keep me in a routine.   I am a little shy and will warm up to you after a little bit.

Update 2/4/2012:  I had my entropion and spay surgeries, so I am all set to go to my "furever" home!

Rusty

Chinese Shar-Pei - Rusty

Hi, I‘m Rusty!  I was dumped at a high kill shelter in December because my owners didn‘t have any time for me.   I was very sad not knowing if I was going to be alive for the holidays or maybe still on death row.  Time was running out when I was transferred to another place.  It looked pretty much the same as the other place with all the cages and dogs, but I heard I was safe now.   I spent the holidays in a kennel, but at least I made it alive.  Finally I was loaded up in a car.  I don‘t know what a car is really.   I had to have help to get in.  Actually I just landed on the seat.  I think someone lifted me into the car.  Getting out is not very easy either.  Then things really got exciting.  I heard I was in NJ.  I slept on a dog bed and had two meals a day.  I got to play with the other dogs there.   Back in the car and I am in Virginia.  Wow am I getting around now?

So I was supposed to go to another foster home in VA, but I am such a good boy that I get to stay with the people who drive me all over.   I heard the lady on the phone making an appointment for me to be neutered.  Not sure I‘ll like that but then I‘ll be ready to settle down in my very own “furever” home.

I am housetrained.  The leash thing is new to me too, so I‘d like someone to help me understand it. I did very well in the car.   I like my dog friends and my bed.  It was scarey in the beginning, but now I know my holiday wish will come true.  I will be able to celebrate many more holidays with my “furever” people.

Magnolia

Female Chinese Shar-Pei - Magnolia

Hi, my name is Magnolia!  Yeah, I have a new photo...now you can really see how beautiful I am.  A nice lady came all the way from Virginia to pick me up in Mississippi.  I am as sweet as can be and got along with the other dogs who came along on the road trip!

P.S.  I am heartworm positive too.  I hear that I am the fourth heartworm positive dog that the rescue has right now and that heartworm treatment is expensive, so any donations would be greatly appreciated.

Update 1/19/2012:  Well, I am all settled in at my foster home in Virginia.  I am getting along great with the other Pei here, Hannah.  I also really like the kids!  Cats...well not really crazy about them, so it would be best for me to be in a home with no kitties.   Please check back soon for more photos!

Jacques

Foster Home Needed

Chinese Shar-Pei - Jacques

Hi, I‘m Jacques!  I am a well-behaved boy.  There was a big fire next door my first day here (yep, really), and I had to show what a good boy I could be when we were evacuated.  Foster mom said I did great.  I am already housetrained and am excellent in the crate.  Actually Foster Mom says that I am better than any dog that she has ever seen with a crate - how about that!  I just go right in and am very quiet while in there.  I also walk well on a leash.

I like my Foster Mom a lot and really enjoy when she pets me.  I also like the kids here and know how to play gently.   I was a little nervous with men but not any more!  I just needed some good experiences with the big guys, and now I am loving my walks with my Foster Dad.  I am also good with the other dogs here.  I don‘t really like those kitty creatures, so a home without any of them would be best for me!

Did I mention that I am very smart?  Yep good looking and smart too!   I know sit, down, wait, and crate; and we‘re working on ‘drop it” and ‘leave it.” They‘ll be teaching me to drive the car next...I‘ll let you know when I have that down!

I also respect boundaries that you set just as soon as I know what they are.   For instance, I already know I‘m not allowed in certain areas of the kitchen, upstairs, or on the furniture at my foster home. That's all ok with me.  I am easy to train and will do pretty much anything as long as someone has time, patience, and of course, treats!

Do I sound like the guy for you?  If so, please fill out an application and ask for me, Jacques!

Update 1/11/2012:  I was neutered today and did fantastic!  I am now ready to go to my “furever” home.

Update 1/31/2012:  I need some help...well actually for me and my temporary Foster Mom.  I need to find a longer term foster home.  Foster Mom already has another foster Pei, Minnie, here; and I really need my own place.  I need a place with a fenced in yard to keep me safe.  Can you help me out?

Tess

Chinese Shar-Pei - Tess

Hi, I‘m Tess, a sweet and lady-like Shar-Pei!  My foster Mom says that I am quite the character because I have been keeping them entertained with my charming personality.

I am a high energy girl, so I am enjoying my three walks per day at my foster home.  We go for a ride every day too!   I would love to find an active “furever” home interested in doing fun things like walking, playing, running, or maybe even agility training!   I also enjoy playing with other dogs, so a canine companion would be great too.

I am a very loving girl and enjoy laying on a blanket by your side and getting my belly rubbed.  After an active day, I‘ll beat you to the bed and snuggle with you for the night.

Foxy

Chinese Shar-Pei - Foxy

Hi I‘m Foxy, now known by my new network of friends as FoxyGirl!  The rescue folks got to meet me when they came to pick up Pinot and saw what a great girl I am, so they took me too!  I was so excited to get out of the shelter.  I was underweight and my coat was a bit of a mess; but as you can see from my pictures, I am healthy and looking great now!

I am about three years old, am completely housebroken, and eat extremely well.   I really love my human friends.   I love to play and run outside and am just a happy, fun filled dog!   I love to go on long walks and am very well behaved on a leash.   My foster dad and I made a walking video to show what a great walking partner I am!  Want to walk with me?

I am all ready to find my loving, active family.  I am a sweetheart and have so much love and affection to share.  While I do get along with my canine foster sister, Lucy, I don't feel the same about other dogs.   I would really like to find a “furever” home where I am the only dog and can give and get all of the loving!  If you are looking for a sweet, good girl to share your home with, then hurry up and fill out an application and ask for FoxyGirl!

Baby Girl

Female Chinese Shar-Pei - Baby Girl

Hi, I‘m Baby Girl!  I was left behind at a veterinary office in South Carolina.  Fortunately, my guardian angel was there; and she worked hard to find a rescue for me so that I would not be PTS.  These nice rescue people will be taking me in.  I will be transported in the next few weeks, so please check back for updates.

Update 2/1/2011:  I have started my journey to my foster home.  I had to say good-bye to my guardian angel today.   That was very sad, but we know I am on my way to finding a “furever” family. I was transported to Charlotte today and will be on my way to my foster home in Elizabeth City on Sunday.

Po

Female Chinese Shar-Pei - Po

Hi, my name is Po!   I‘m a sweet and gentle flowered male Shar-Pei.  I enjoy playing with my human friends and other dogs.  I also love to tear those squeaky things out of plush toys, and I enjoy chewing on balls.  I do pretty well on the leash too.

I like the lady dogs best, but I do get along with neutered males who are not overly dominant too. I was great friends with a male Doberman that I lived with.  I lived on a farm where there were barn cats.   I did run after them if they caught my eye, but I never tried to hurt them.

I‘m a laid back boy.  I am good with kids.   If anything annoys me, I just get up, move a couple feet away and lay back down.  The people at the veterinarian‘s office always comment on how good I am for them.

I do need to be on a grain free diet to maintain my healthy coat.   I had one FSF episode that required going to the vet and one that my caretaker managed on her own where my fever never really got that high.
